Vancouver, British Columbia – April 3, 2009: Dr. Hikmet Akin, President of Aldridge Minerals Inc. (“Aldridge” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has received a report from SGS Minerals Services, (Lakefield) laboratories, where metallurgical testwork was conducted. Results indicate that separate concentrates with Cu (+Au), Pb (+Ag), and Zn can be produced with economic concentrate grades.
The ore was subjected to two different processes: bulk grinding and flotation of the whole ore, and gravity pre-enrichment of the sulphide minerals followed by grinding and flotation. Overall, flotation using the gravity concentrate produced results with better consistency and metallurgy. The non-sulphide materials may have hindered flotation in the bulk material, which resulted in relatively poor flotation selectivity and inconsistent results.
The metallurgical projection derived from locked cycle flotation testing is a copper concentrate with 26% Cu, 14% Pb, 130g/t Au, and 910g/t Ag at 70% Cu, 13% Pb, 65% Au, and 25% Ag recovery. The projected lead concentrate graded 66% Pb and 2070g/t Ag at 52% Pb and 50% Ag recovery. The projected zinc concentrate graded 60% Zn at 60% recovery.
Future testwork is focussing on confirming that a Pb-free copper concentrate can be produced through Cu/Pb separation. This would also result in increased Pb and Ag recovery in the lead concentrate. Additional increases in recovery could be made through the optimization of the gravity conditions and the recovery of the Zn contained in oxides and gahnite.
A sample weighing 2.5 t has been shipped to Corem in Québec City, Québec, Canada to optimize first the gravity pre-concentration and then flotation. The sample is derived from a 42-meter-deep shaft as reported in Aldridge’s news release dated December 16, 2008. Results are expected this summer.
